With the biggest commitment to mitigating climate change in U.S. history having recently been signed into law, climate is—even more so than usual—top of mind for many.

From AI-based forecasts around extreme weather and CO₂ emissions to identification of climate-vulnerable regions, AI and machine learning technologies have been touted as the ultimate solution to climate change. Unsurprisingly, it’s not quite that simple.

AI Model Can Detect Parkinson’s from Breathing Patterns

Parkinson’s disease is notoriously difficult to diagnose since its main motor symptoms often appear several years after the disease onset. Now, a team at MIT has developed an AI model that uses a neural network to detect the disease just from reading a person’s breathing patterns.

Fast Counterfactual Explanations for Machine Learning

FastCFE is a new and recently patented explainable AI offering in the Arthur platform that is based around counterfactual explanations, which leverage context around model predictions and “what-if” simulations to drive stronger, more actionable outcomes.
